Essex National Heritage Area
Partnership Grant Program

The Essex National Heritage Commission’s Partnership Grant Program is a matching grant program created to foster collaboration between organizations that share the Commission’s mission to preserve and promote the historic, cultural and natural resources of the Essex National Heritage Area.

Reaching out to many in the region, the 10-year old program has provided more than $1,780,000 to municipalities and nonprofit heritage organizations to support their stewardship efforts in the areas of heritage education, interpretative programming, historic preservation, community trails, and historical records.

2009 Partnership Grant Program Suspended

Due to the unanticipated state funding cut of $93,750, Essex Heritage is suspending the 2009 round of Partnership Grants and no new applications will be solicited or accepted at this time. Essex Heritage will continue to support all of our current grant commitments, and every effort is being made to seek alternative funding to fill the budget gap. We are very sorry to make this announcement as we know that many of you rely on Essex Heritage grants to implement excellent education, interpretation, and preservation projects.

We have every hope that through the generosity of our many supporters, the gap in funding will be closed, and we will be able to continue the Partnership Grant program in the future. To help us restore this program, we encourage you to…
